AMC has announced that it is soon embarking on the 9th season of The Walking Dead, the hit television show about grimy men with beards and the zombies that want to eat them.
That’s no surprise, but the announcement also comes with a shakeup behind the scenes. Scott M. Gimple, who has been The Walking Dead‘s show runner since 2013 is being elevated as Chief Creative Officer to oversee the entire Walking Dead universe while writer and co-executive producer Angela Kang has been promoted into the show runner’s chair.
The announcement also teases more of what AMC is calling potential brand extensions which could mean anything from games to more spinoffs.
“Together, we will dream bigger and more broadly than ever before,” Charlie Collier, president of AMC, said in a press release.
