Walmart, Ellen DeGeneres join hands to launch women’s fashion line

Comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to launch a women’s clothing line at Walmart, according to a Reuters report.

Titled as EV1, the collection will feature nearly 60 items, ranging from denim, tees bearing Ellen quotes, accessories and footwear. All the fashion products will be priced at USD 30 or less, with new items updating seasonally.

The multiyear deal is set to take effect on September 10, when the line will debut in over 2,300 Walmart stores and on Walmart.com.

The move is the latest attempt to foray into the apparel space and gain market share in the category. Earlier, Walmart had launched four private label clothing brands to boost sales in the category. Not only this, the retailer giant had also acquired several small online brands such as Shoebuy, Modcloth, and Bonobos last year to boost growth in the fashion sector.

Ellen Lee DeGeneres is an American comedian, television host, actress, writer, producer, and LGBT activist. DeGeneres starred in the popular sitcom Ellen from 1994 to 1998 and has hosted her syndicated TV talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, since 2003.
