Fremantle Media acquires format rights of sports entertainment series Vs Kids

Fremantle Media has acquired the format rights of sports entertainment series Vs Kids from Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi.

Vs Kids pits former sports professionals against next-generation stars to see who will be crowned the ultimate champion.

Vasha Wallace, executive VP of global acquisitions and development at FremantleMedia, said the format had “universal appeal” and had done “incredibly well” in terms of rating and reception on TV Asahi, where it airs in prime time.

The acquisition comes shortly after the news that FremantleMedia had signed a development deal with UK production company 87 Films to collaborate on scripted projects for the international market alongside Fremantle’s global in-house producers.
