Counterfeit Pokemon Go games confiscated in South Korea

If you thought counterfeit goods are available only in countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, think again!

It seems like players of Pokemon Go are not the only ones trying to catch Pokemon in public.

And it’s not just Niantic going after unscrupulous people seeking to take advantage of the Pokemon craze as South Korean police has recently ended a string operation that saw the confiscation of roughly 530K counterfeit Pokemon plushies.

As reported by South Korean outlet Yes! Top News, the said counterfeit plushies would have easily been worth $6.27 billion had they been sold.

The report also noted that there has been an alarming increase in the number of companies selling the counterfeit plushies from a mere 21 in 2015 to over 1700 this year, most likely buoyed by the popularity of the Pokemon GO ARG game.
