Blackberry, Lionsgate, IMAX among 150 iconic Canadian brands: Interbrand

Global brand consultancy Interbrand has released a list of 150 Iconic Canadian Brands as the country celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.

The Interbrand list highlights 150 companies and brands that help to shape and define the Canadian experience and a host of organisations active in brand licensing were featured on this list, including: BlackBerry, Cirque du Soleil,Corus Entertainment, IMAX, Kraft Dinner, Lionsgate, Lululemon Athletics, MAC Cosmetics, Royal Canadian Mint, Spin Master, Tim Hortons and Toronto Maple Leafs

Canadians themselves nominated the brands and then selected by Interbrand based on a number of criteria including brand clarity, engagement and authenticity.

“Brands become iconic when they build a deep emotional connection with people’s values and beliefs, and become inextricably woven into their lives,” says Carolyn Ray, managing director, Interbrand Canada.

“This doesn’t happen by accident. Brand building is a long and highly orchestrated process that must be sustained over time. … I firmly believe that we are in a moment in time where it does not serve us to be humble. We have so much to be proud of. And so much opportunity ahead of us. As one of the brands on our report clearly stated: ‘The world needs more Canada,” she added.
