50th anniversary of Apollo 8 and 11 missions to be commemorated

2018 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 8 mission, which was the first manned mission to leave Earth’s orbit as well as head to and circumnavigate the moon over Christmas, December 1968.

With regards to the same, Licensing Management International and the International Space Archives have decided to commemorate the occasion with a host of new merchandise next year.

The International Space Archives is a digital library of mission patches, photos, films and videos from sources including NASA and the international space programmes of Russia, Japan, China, India and the European Union.

To gear up for the Apollo missions’ milestone anniversaries, the agency has tapped New Era Caps in South Korea to create a line of headwear using the ISA mission patches artwork. The line will be available in other New Era Caps territories including New Era Japan.

About Blank, also in South Korea, has also signed on to launch a line of apparel and accessories including jackets, t-shirts, caps, beanies and gloves.

Meanwhile, 2019 will be celebrated as the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission which saw the first man land on the moon in July 1969.
