Forget Disneyland, visit Bordeaux’s City of Wine for a special retreat

Bored of visiting Hong Kong Disneyland again and again? Then, this time, you must try authentic French theme park, and head down to Bordeaux instead.

La Cité du Vin, or ‘The City of Wine’, offers 20 themed areas exploring the history and culture of wine.

You can pay €20, or $24,80 for admission to the park’s permanent tour, a multimedia guide, and one glass of wine at the end of the day. Interestingly, you can choose your complimentary glass of wine from a wide range of variety of 20.

Its official opening by the President of France François Hollande took place on May 31, 2016.

In January 2011, the cost of the construction had been estimated at 63 million euros excluding taxes. But at the end of 2014, as the construction was in progress, the cost of the structure has been re-evaluated to reach 81,1 million euros excluding taxes.

With no major marketing push, the theme attracted 445,000 visitors, mostly from France itself, during the last year.
